Don't Go In the Pool

Today we got the keys for the bikes that we can loan from SGE, and we rode down to the a general store called Seria. It's another 100 yen store, but unlike the grociery one this had all kinds of daily living supplies, and absolutely everything was 105 yen, which is just about exactly $1 right now. I bought school supplies, a wallet, soap, sandles and a bunch of other stuff.

Then after we came back, we went to the ramen shop down the street. I got some onigiri, or rice in an triangle shape wrapped in nori, or edible sea weed, and a bowl of rice. It was under $2.

Then some of us went to the park to play soccer, and I'm pretty sure we scared off some kids who were playing catch there. When we decided we wanted to go swimming, we went back and changed and got towels, and started walking aimlessly around campus looking for the pool.  When we found it, it was outside inbetween these really run down looking buildings, and it had not yet been opened for the year.  It was absolutely disgusting looking, the water in it must have just been what had been rained into it over time, and it was green.  Also, the pool appeared to be maybe 5 or 6 feet deep at most.  I don't know how they call that a pool.

Then we went back to the Hyakumangoku Matsuri festival downtown:

In the festival there were a lot of lottery games and then what I think was some game that involved live eels:

Maybe if you caught one, you got to eat it? Or keep it? There were some more appetizing foods there like this one I forget the name of. Maybe otokomiyaki?

Then we went to this shinto shrine nearby:

There was some interesting stuff like a wall you wrote a wish on and left it there in hope it would come true:

There were also fortunes you could buy. If you liked what the fortune was, you kept it, but if you didn't you tied it on to this:

Then we went to a "Mister Donut" shop. Like a lot of stores in downtown areas, it wasn't very long or wide, but it had a few floors. It wasn't very good donuts or coffee though. Then when we got back, we tried to do a little studying, but it was mostly to no avail. Classes started the next day.
