Classes Start

We woke up early to get our laptops today. They broke us up into groups so we didn't all just come right when they opened. We figured they would just give it to us one by one when we got there, but instead we waited for everyone from our group to show up before we received our laptops. It was kind of indicative of Japanese culture and how they tend to think in a group mindset instead of focusing on the individual like America.

Then we met with the teachers from our classes about the results of our placement tests. I'm in class one out of three, and it makes sense because I've taken only one year of Japanese, while other students have taken five or more. I need to work on verb conjugation, adjectives, numbers, question word sentences, te form, and I want to learn a few forms I haven't yet like potential form.

We had a break next, and Amy wanted to know where the good 100 yen store I went to yesterday was, and I wanted more stuff from there, so I went too. I bought a few more school supplies and an even better wallet than I found there before, and some fancy chopsticks.

And our first class was today, only one, I guess they're easing us in. Solomon-Sensei's class is the culture class, and we just had a basic overview of Japan's geography and some basic history of the different regions and Kanazawa itself, and why it matters today.

Then after class, a few folks wanted to go downtown because a store they wanted to go to was having a special event. It was a nerd shop though, so that was too bad:

But we didn't stay there too long thankfully. Then we went and got food from the basement food court:

But I have to go restart my laundry in the dryers again because it takes forever for the stuff to dry in this humid air. I have to also write up a goal plan for how I want to improve on the areas I'm lacking for Japanese class tomorrow.
