Today we had the closing ceremony for the KIT IJST program. The president of the university, who also came to our Rube Goldberg machine contest, spoke at the ceremony, and also gave out awards for the machines, posters and speeches. It was apparently 97 degrees in Kanazawa today according to the weather report, so wearing suits was a bit tough, but we had a lot of fun taking pictures afterwards.
When the ceremony was over, we changed into something better and went to Itadakimasu with Fujii-sensei, who taught class 3, and a lot of the Japanese students. When talking to some of the other students, we realized there was a little bit of a problem with our plans for sending our bags to the airport. You can send them through different couriers (one of them that operates out of the convenience store Family Mart), but this one would only hold your bags up to one week, and we were staying for two.
We talked to the Japanese teachers who were staying a little longer, but they wouldn't be not quite long enough. But then fortunately two separate KIT students offered to hold our luggage, because they're so nice. We left it with Masa, Jason's Rube Goldberg machine partner. We gave him a little extra money for his trouble, but I don't think it is really enough because it will be hard for him to get our luggage to the shipping place.
Afterwards we said goodbye to everyone, and got ready to leave for Yokohama the next morning. Even as I write this, there isn't anymore internet, so I'm not sure when the next time I can actually post something will be.
