Spent another day in Kyoto today, went to see Kinkakuji, which is a palace covered in gold.
On the way we saw some protest going on, but I'm not sure what it was all about. After kinkakuji we went to Nojiji Castle, which was built by the first shogunate of Japan I think. It was pretty well preserved, but you couldn't take photos inside the building.
After we came back to meet the English students we met yesterday for lunch, and we walked downtown again to the really cool shopping area. It's a really cool place there. We had some Okonomiyaki, which is like a big omlette but jam packed with stuff like potatoes or meat or mochi or cheese. We went to a restaurant where you cook it yourself on the grittle in built into the table. I was the only one who could flip these omlettes well.
After, we went to a coffee place, but it wasn't very good compared to starbucks. It was closer to tim hortons or something. But at least we had some nice company:

Eli and Yulie
After the girls had to go home (apparently they travelled for about an hour to get back here for today, we had no idea they lived so far away because we met them down the street from here), we did a little shopping. I bought some souvenirs for people. A band also started playing in front of a department store, so we stopped and checked that out:

"Shake Hands"
Then we went to a bar that advertised '330 for everything'! But what we didn't know was that you needed to buy at least 1 food and 1 drink per person. On top of that, there was a cover charge of 330 for each person. Xander bought a really bad drink and bad food, and he was pretty pissed. So we came home.
