This was the first day we've had in Kanazawa with no real commitments, so it was nice to just do whatever we want. I woke up a little later and went to the TonTon Ramen place with people again for lunch. Then I just worked on studying a lot of Japanese words for shapes and figures for Japanese for Science and Technology class.
For dinner, since we found out Hige Cho was nowhere near as expensive as it appeared to be, we went there again for dinner, about 10 of us. This time they had a waiter who spoke pretty decent English wait on us. After that I rode a bike to the 100 yen grocery store to buy some more cereal and bread for toast for breakfasts.
Since this day was mostly just studying and since I haven't yet described the room I'm living in, I should do that now:
For our room they give us a nice little desk that is pretty compact:

But in that little space they pack a lot:

The back of the chair folds down and you can slide it in like a drawer. There's a built in light and power strip, which come in very handy. There's a whiteboard too, but I can't quite reach it.
The futon is pretty simple:

Just really a mat and a pillow and some sheets. But it folds up nicely to fit in the closet:

The kitchen is pretty well equiped:

Kitchen
It comes with a few nice chairs, a small table, a cabinet with a water boiler and coffee maker, a bunch of pots and pans and dishes (but only enough for two, no more), a small refrigerator, a toaster oven, and a range top. There is no hot water from the pipes in the kitchen. There's two bins separated into burnable and non burnable trash, which seems to be pretty close to the distinction between recyclable and non-recyclable in the US. I guess they must burn their trash because there's no space to put it in landfills or anything.
The bathroom is pretty unique:

Toilet & Sink
The toilet has a built in sink on the top that when you flush runs water for you to wash your hands with, which then fills up the tank. In a separate room they have a sink for washing and a shower. The shower room is surprisingly large for some reason.
